Gelest, Inc., headquartered in Morrisville, PA, USA, was founded in 1991 to serve the advanced technology applications markets and is recognized worldwide as an innovator, manufacturer and supplier of Organo-Silicon and Metal-Organic materials for commercial production and R&D support.

Barry Arkles

Ph.D., President, CTO

Responsibilities include general corporate development and strategic product innovation. Dr. Arkles formed Gelest Inc. to develop and manufacture silicon and metal-organic based chemicals and polymers for applications in microelectronics, optoelectronics, medical devices and pharmaceuticals. Prior to the founding of Gelest, Inc., he was a co-founder of Petrarch Systems, Inc. and then Vice-Preseident of Corporate Development for Huls America.  Dr. Arkles received his doctorate from Temple University and has published over 150 technical articles and been awarded over 75 patents.      

Ken Gayer

CEO

Ken joined Gelest in 2017, and brings more than 20 years of global chemical industry leadership experience. Prior to joining Gelest, Ken served as Business President of Honeywell Specialty Products of Honeywell international. Prior to Honeywell, Gayer held leadership roles at McKinsey & Company and the Polaroid Corporation, and served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy Nuclear Submarine Force. Ken holds an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management, a Masters in Chemical Engineering from MIT, and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

William Fry

VP, Finance

Responsible the finance department, Bill joined Gelest in 2010. Prior to joining Gelest, Bill spent six years working in public accounting serving a variety of industries, including manufacturing. Bill is a certified public accountant and graduate of West Chester University.

Kevin King

Executive VP, Operations

Responsible for site production and management, Kevin has over 35 years of experience in silane and silicone production and manufacturing. Previously he was Production Manager of Petrarch Systems/Huls America Inc.. He is co-founder of Gelest, Inc. and a graduate of Ursinus College.

Craig Smith

VP, Sales

Craig is responsible for global sales and has over 25 years of experience in silane & silicone chemistry and business, including roles as chemist, sales manager, and marketing manager with Hüls America and Degussa. He is a graduate of the University of Delaware and an alumnus of the Columbia University School of Business.

Doug Wulffleff

VP, Mergers & Acquisitions

Doug is responsible for identifying business opportunities and developing and executing strategies for growth through acquisition in the specialty chemicals industry and adjacent segments. Gelest is actively seeking to acquire value creating businesses including middle-market and larger stand-alone companies that are complementary or provide innovative technologies that enhance our ability to serve existing and new customers.

Edward Kimble

VP, Product Management

Ed leads the Product Management team for the Silane, Silicone, and Metal-Organic product lines, with a primary focus on product marketing, planning, and forecasting along with developing strategies that drive company profitability. An 20-year veteran of Gelest, Kimble previously served as Applications and Polymer Development Manager, and Production Chemical Group Supervisor. He is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University.

Jonathan Goff

Ph.D., VP, Research & Development

Jonathan is responsible for facilitating customer relationships, research initiatives and operational efficiencies.  Jonathan joined Gelest in 2009 and currently manages the Polymer Development, Technical Services, and Quality Control groups, and helps lead the Silanes & Metal-Organics and Research Engineering groups.   Dr. Goff received his Ph.D. in Macromolecular Science & Engineering from Virginia Tech and has published over 40 technical articles.
