Gelest Scientists Honored by SCC for Best Technical Paper on Makeup Technology
Gelest, Inc. is pleased to announce that five Gelest scientists received the Allan B. Black Award from the Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SCC) for their technical paper entitled, "Surface Treatments to Improve Pigment Dispersion in Aqueous Media." The Black Award recognizes the best paper on makeup technology presented at the previous SCC Annual Scientific Meeting or Seminar. The paper, authored by Jane Hollenberg, Technical Director of Cosmetic Materials; Larry Danberry, Technical Specialist; Yunmi Kim, Ph.D., Technical Service Manager; Youlin Pan, Ph.D., Silanes R&D Manager; and Barry Arkles, Ph.D., Gelest President, was presented at the 2010 Annual Scientific Seminar last June. Gelest, Inc. announces a new 348-page reference manual, titled Metal-Organics for Materials, Polymers & Synthesis, that showcases the company’s greatly expanded range of metal-organic compounds for materials, polymers and synthesis. Gelest’s Unique Surface-Treated Pigments Targeting Cosmetic Formulations Showcased in New Brochure
Gelest, Inc. has published a new brochure detailing specialty surface treatments based on in-house technology addressing the new product development initiatives in the cosmetic industry. Using self-manufactured compounds, Gelest has developed a line of surface-modified pigments and fillers designed to address the color cosmetic chemist's formulation needs. The surface treatment process that is carried out on the pigments and fillers is performed at Gelest's newly constructed powder facility. With the expansion of Gelest's manufacturing capabilities, surface modification of customer-supplied substrates is offered, including those requiring special handling, such as inert atmospheres, low temperatures, or vacuum drying.
